Pair Longobard Amber and Topaz Hammered Murano Glass and Wrought Iron Sconces
-
Description
Known for his unique design vision and a distinctive style combining artistic expression with functionality, Longobard was in a class by himself. Greatly influenced by the culture of Germanic inhabitants who populated the Verona region around 600-700 A.D., his creations are something out of the middle ages with wrought iron frames and hammered glass. Yet it's this historical craftsmanship and the use of raw materials that makes his work modern and exemplary of the emerging Brutalist movement of the early 70's.
This pair of Amber and Topaz hammered Murano glass sconces highlight Longobard's guiding principle that lighting designs be visually stunning and practical, an approach that not only illuminated spaces but enhanced their aesthetic appeal as well. These and several other Longobard lighting creations are now available at Venfield's NYC showroom. Italy, 1970's. - More Information
