This minimal Mid-Century Modern pendant lamp or hanging light was designed by Swedish brothers Uno & Östen Kristiansson and produced by their company Luxus in Vittsjö, Sweden. This model is number 535 and was designed in the 1950s. It features a cylindric shaped diffusors with wooden spikes to each side. The diffusor is made of plastic and therefore is very resistant and light weight. The diffusor holds a 1 x 27 / E26 Edison screw fit bulb. It is wired, in working condition and run both on 110/230 Volt. The hanging height is adjustable. The lamp is in excellent vintage condition and bears the company's label. Five lamps available.
Swedish designers and brothers Uno & Östen Kristiansson, known for their lighting and mirror designs, were particularly active from the 1950s to the 1970s in Sweden. They were prolific designers with a clear design aesthetic that is easily recognizable as Scandinavian modern. Although there is a dearth of biographical information available on the pair, their designs are nonetheless appreciated by vintage lovers, and are highly sought-after on the vintage market today.
In 1950, Uno Kristiansson founded his own manufacturing company, Luxus, which was situated in Vittsjö. He produced a range of products, including home and interior lamps, furniture and mirrors, that were designed by the two brothers. In the 1950s, the collections were launched nationally in Sweden, and internationally across Europe. -
