Description
The Italian Glass Flush Mount / Chandelier / Pendant, Model #1748 by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte is one of the most iconic pieces of this legendary designer who dominated the world of glass and lighting from the mid-1950 through the 1960 period. This rare and special Mid-Century Modern ceiling light is ethereal in nature. Many of Ingrand's pieces were inspired by the elements of nature and Ingrand used artistry and craft to realize them in glass form. Nonetheless, they are transcendent poetic statements about the nature of light. # 1748 is a floating cloud of glass, in an irregular form of thick, beveled glass' some in satin glass and some parts cut and polished as if to form an image of the sky. Its form is natural and organic as if ice crystals had arranged themselves in some magical way to allow light to flow through them, right in the middle of one's home. Ingrand work and model #1748 are wondrous experiences that transcend the nature of home lighting and home decoration and enter the realm of alchemy and the spiritual."
