Postmodern Italian Memphis Style Green Blue White Orange Murano Glass Lamps
-
Description
A 1980s unique pair of colorful Italian Murano glass lamps in the style of Ettore Sottsass for Memphis, constructed with tiers of highly vibrant and geometric colored blown Murano glass elements. A white satin frosted column, raised on a hand-made round brass base, highlighted with black accents, supports an orange opaline glass globe, topped with a navy blue glass disk and a see-through hunter green glass sphere finished with a brass cone that elevates the shape. Each piece is strategically placed for color and organic construction of the silhouette, this work not only brightens up the space that it inhabits but serves as an abstract sculpture as well, each playful piece worked with a different technique stacked up as a totem, a whimsical centerpiece in any room, bedroom, living room, or entryway.
Founded by Italian designer Ettore Sottsass in late 1980, the Memphis Design Group collaborated to create a style often described as kitschy and garish, centering around vibrant colors, geometric shapes, bold patterns, stripes, clashing colors, abstract designs, and plastic laminate.
