Monumental Four Elements Venetian Glass Chandelier, "Earth, Water, Air and Fire"
-
Description
A stunning work of modern Murano glass incorporating the eternal Greek theme that all of life is composed of four elements. Earth: green, bountiful and abundant; water: to fall again and again making earth fertile; air: the dividing line between earth and sky, the vital breeze that transforms; and fire: the lightest and most free moving. And the one to transmute metal. Fire stolen by Prometheus is the beginning of humankind.
And the story of glass is also the story of the four elements. Earth (sand), water, air and the heat of the furnace combine to transmute materials into an infinite range of forms and colors. This grand but subtle chandelier / pendant is delicious in its restraint, romantic in its neoclassical sensibility. - More Information
