Description
Orientalist spelter lamp with female figure
French, 19th Century
Height 130cm, width 45cm, depth 35cm
This Belle Époque period Orientalist lamp features a charming ensemble of elements. Most strikingly, a female figure in Orientalising dress leans against a Moorish side table, upon which sits a table lamp surmounted by a shade and ornamented with exotic motifs and mock gemstones. The lamp is supported by a rectangular base, pierced at the sides with Moorish-arch style openings. The piece is formed from spelter, with mock gemstones throughout and tassels hanging from the lampshade. -
