Pair 19th Century Alabaster Baluster Lamps

Sold Sold
  • Description
This is an impressive pair of very substantial 19th century (perhaps late 18th century) Italian alabaster balusters that have been adapted to lamps with a French wire electrical fitting. The antique alabaster balusters display extraordinary figuring and are in very good patinated condition. The balusters are hand hewn and we do not consider the chips at the base of the lamps to be damage as the chips occurred when the balusters were separated from the balustrade and are desirable indications of age. The height of the balusters at 23" with the addition of the 9" electrical fittings adds to the impressive height of the lamps. We have rewired the lamps and they are all set for their next adventure. The great figuring of the alabaster and mellow tone make these lamps a superb addition to an ivory toned room. These are weighty pieces of beautiful antique alabaster and although electrified, they would make stunning candlesticks for a unique Tuscan, Spanish or colonial design--including an out door terraza or loggia.
