Description
Pair of fine quality patinated bronze wallights by Atelier Jean Perzel. They come complete with original glass shades. These elegant wallights are finely detailed and of a heavy weight denoting quality and are in the classical form of torcheres. They would be perfect in both a traditional and contemporary setting due to their simplicity of form.
Perzel was born in Germany, from a family of glassblowers and under their tutelage he learned the trade. He left Germany at a young age and traveled round Europe settling in Paris in 1910. He worked for various important glassmakers and finally in 1923 he opened his own atelier. He produced wallights, chandeliers, floor and table lamps and chandeliers for wealthy clients. He worked with frosted or sandblasted glass and exhibited at the prestigious International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial arts, which publicized the Art Deco style. His work can be found in the homes of the Kings of Morocco and Siam, the French President Charles de Gaulle and Georges Pompidou.
