Description
This stunning and graphic six arm chandelier was produced by Sabino- one of the most renowned lighting ateliers of the period- in France, circa 1930. It features six streamlined chrome arms circumscribe an hour glass form also in polished chrome. The arms support six handblown two tiered dome shades in frosted glass with raised iridescent channels offering amber opalescent hues. This shade repeats on the bottom of the chandelier, supported by a skyscraper style finial culminating in a balled form all in polished chrome. Additionally, the piece offers another conical glass form above the chrome hourglass form with a skyscraper style finial. There is another polished chrome finial of the same form in palindromic symmetry. The chandelier attaches to the ceiling via a cylindrical rod and curved canopy in polished chrome. This piece represents a first-rate example of French Art Deco by one of the great glass ateliers of the period. With its clean modernist lines and impeccable construction, it would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Deco to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. The height can be adjusted to suit. It accommodates eight candelabra based bulbs offering up to 480 watts of light.
