Description
Fantastic early 20th century wrought iron chandelier in the manner of Samuel Yellin, having three dragon gargoyles over scrolled iron basket, each dragon with single chandelier bulb and the center with full size light bulb socket.
Samuel Yellin, a Ukrainian immigrant, established a metalsmith shop in Philadelphia in 1909, He is considered one of the great master metalsmiths of all time and his work is found throughout the country. He was employed by most of the great architects of the day. Yellin died in 1940, but the firm he started is still in existence, now in the hands of his granddaughter, who said of him, "He called himself a blacksmith, but others called him a genius, a devil with a hammer in his hand." -
