Description
In the early 1960’s Seguso produced a hand-blown Murano glass table lamp called the “Pineapple”, for the American lighting company Marbro. The lamp, as the name implied, resembled the tropical fruit with it's bulbous ,textured, diamond pattern body that tapered at the neck, and was topped with a crown of small dagger shaped leaves; the entirety held aloft by a gilt-wood base.
The pineapple form became a very popular Mid-Century Modern lamp design inspiring many other similar style lamps. But though these replicas might do away with the crown of leaves or change the finish on the base, the lamps raised diamond pattern or Rigadin, referring to the decorative glass, characterized by it's subtle raised ribs, remained steadfast and forever connected Seguso’s original Pineapple lamp to those it inspired.
This elegant and modern pair of Murano glass lamps with its distinctive rigadin diamond pattern clearly derives inspiration from Seguso's "Pineapple". The crown of leaves has since transformed into a less figurative, more contemporary shape. The gilt-wood base replaced by smoky textured glass with a touch of brass to add a shimmer of gold and luxury. The body of the lamp is a deep smoke color glass accented by a contrasting teal blue glass at the base. The pair's sophisticated aesthetic mixed with a touch of retro kitsch makes them ideal for almost every interior style. (Lamp shades not available) -
