The best qualities of Swedish mid-century light fixtures are most often their atmospheric light and disciplined, functionalist design. With a focus on craftsmanship, materials, and clean lines, this chandelier is exemplary of the era’s design philosophy.

This six-armed, brass chandelier is rooted in traditional historic styles, while employing modern details such as the curved arms, and opal glass shades. Each arm ends in a shade holder supporting the glass in the classic tulip shape with thicker lower parts and thin, dainty necks. The shape complements the curvature of the arms, while the opaque glass creates a warm visual effect when the light is on. To counterbalance the shades, the brass stem and rod have a more understated, streamlined look that allows the design focus to remain on the opal glass. The brass body is enriched with the warmth the light creates when the lamp is switched on, creating a cosy atmosphere. An interesting element is also present toward the base of the lamp: the designer opted to attach small brass spheres to the base, which further allow the light to bounce off of to enhance the ambiance of a room. This subtle detailing is what makes rather traditional lighting models like this stand out, highlighting the design prowess of Swedish craftsmen.
