English, William IV period, bronze table lamp attributed to the Birmingham firm of Thomas Messenger and Sons (1797 - 1920) depicting Atlas supporting the earth with swiveling ring on quadraform plinth base with panel, god-head, and acanthus motifs. Originally a sinumbra lamp, it was converted to electricity in the early 20th century.
