Paolo Caliari for Venini Light Fixture
-
Description
This large scale Pendant was produced around 1960. Designed by Architect Paolo Caliari, one of the founders of the Venini Caliari Shop at 1 Via Cavour Torino, (Turin). This Venini shop opened in 1926, about five years after the birth of the murano glass industry. A collaboration between Venini and Caliari, the glass was produced at Venini and the Metal was manufactured in Turin. There were two versions of armatures. One with chains, ostensibly to allow for various heights and the other without. The tobacco color when unlit turns a warm buttershotch color when lit due to the white glass interior. There is a separate white glass piece that covers the light bulb. In order to install the light in our booth we have taped a section of the chain to itself to shorten it..this is easily removed but can be seen in the images. Additionally our photographer's lights have changed the actual color of this light. I have added some images taken with my phone which shows more accurately the color of the shade when it is not lit. It is more milk chocolate when unlit and butterscotch rather than orange when lit.

Message from Seller:
Established in 1999, by antiques dealer Gail Garlick, the gallery focuses on historical works of the 20th Century. Primarily Good Design shows furniture, lighting and decorative arts from Italy, the US and Scandinavia. Meticulous about authenticity, we maintain a substantial research library. Our preference for refined works in original patina have won us an international following of designers, collectors and gallerists.
