Viennese Orientalist cold-painted bronze figurative lamp

This fine bronze lamp is crafted in the Viennese Orientalist manner that prevailed during the early twentieth century. The lamp is crafted from cold-painted bronze, an intricate technique that produces vibrant colours. The lamp is modelled as a figure seated atop a rug and beneath a lamp. The figure holds a bowl and a statue, and his walking staff is propped beside him. The modelling throughout is superb, as is the painted finish. The lamp is marked underside ‘BK’ and ‘Austria’.
