18th Century Gilt Baroque Wall Mirror, Austria circa 1780
-
Description
Marvellous 18th century gilt wall mirror from the baroque period around 1780 in Austria. This large, exceptional looking mirror was part of a private owned castle and comes in amazing old restored condition: we just had to carefully clean the frame a bit and renew the mirror glass during this process since the original mirror plate was completely blind. The elaborate worked frame impresses with its extraordinary design showing lavish floral stucco works in each corner and additional delicaten ones on the center of each frame part. If you take a closer look you will discover that all those applications were set inverted - what a great effect! Combined with the gilt surface and the over 230 year old fantastic looking patina, this antique 18th century wall mirror spreads a unique kind of luxury and the charm of a long past era. An absolute outstanding baroque mirror searching for its equals - a real rarity in such great quality and condition. Definitely a piece you won´t be able to buy every day.
