-
Description
A rare early 19th century Italian Neoclassical period, original giltwood mirror elaborately carved with inspiration from Ancient Rome, circa 1800. The mirror plates are original and topped by a cresting of an eagle on a pedestal above a carved lion and flanked by cascading flower and leaf garlands harnessed to winged horses, in the classical style of the Greek Pegasus. Under the plates, at the base of the mirror, on either end, are carved paw feet with leaf motif.
