Description
Appealing Austrian gilt wall mirror from the famous Biedermeier period around 1830. The wide, deeply grooved frame (partly carved, partly stucco works) was covered with amazing looking "stream gold" and impresses with traditional so-called "Bull´s Eye" motives and additional delicate stripes with little spheres on the inside. On some spots slight abrasions of the gold brought out the red "bolus" - the primer for gilding - which confers this nearly 200 year old, antique Biedermeier mirror a really noble appearance. The backside is closed with brown paper and the solid hand forged ring makes wall mounting easy and safe. A true gem of a gilt 19th century Biedermeier wall mirror in perfect size - coming in great original condition - only the mirror plate had to be renewed during the restoration/ cleaning process.
