English Regency Gilt Convex Mirror
-
Description
Awe-inspiring convex mirror of the Regency period (circa 1820) with iconic details defining the style. An eagle surmount tops the crown of the mirror, wings outstretched and balancing on a plinth erupting with leaves. Around the circumference of the mirror is a cable twist pattern, marked by cartouche and acanthus designs at the cardinal points. An ebonized ring separates the convex mirror plate from the molding, enhancing the watchful effect. Billowing out from the bottom of the frame is an exquisite fan carving terminating with a foliate projection. Strung with picture wire and ready to hang. Please view the detailed images.
