French 1775 Transition Period Painted and Gilt Trumeau Mirror with Carved Urn
-
Description
A French Transition period painted and gilt trumeau mirror from the 18th century, with urn, flowers, foliage and volutes. Created in France during the third quarter of the 18th century, this trumeau mirror presents the stylistics characteristics of the "Style Transition", that saw the passage from the Rococo lines of the Louis XV period to the classical design of the Louis XVI era. A light painted background whose soft tones compliments the linear silhouette beautifully, is accented with exquisite giltwood motifs showcasing an urn, delicate flowers and foliage. The mirror plate showing some signs of aging, is surrounded by petite beads, rais-de-cœur and volute motifs. With its nice proportions and lovely contrast of colors, this French Transition trumeau mirror circa 1775 will be a great focal point in any home, perhaps hung above an enfilade, credenza or console table.
