French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Gilt Mirror
-
Description
A lovely gilt mantel mirror from 19th century France, the narrow proportions of the frame are decorated with iconic–if not romantic–themes from the court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. An artfully sculpted crest of a tied bow crowns the dome at the top, transitioning to an intricate floral garland draped between the two sides. Dense carvings of laurel leaves in the frame are intermittently crossed with a ribbon-effect, echoing the delicate bow above. The perfect size to make a big impact in a small room.
