French Gold Gilt Louis Philippe Mantel Mirror
-
Description
A graceful floral motif of iris traces the frame of this gilt Louis Philippe mirror, brought to life by the red bole coming through the gold leaf, visual imagery likely brought back from French colonies around Southeast Asia. While a ribbon-twist motif outlines the perimeter of the broad arch, the interior molding around the wide mirror plate exhibits a more intricate and textured pattern. There is no visible foxing or crystals in the glass to determine if the mirror plate is original. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition.
