French Modern Neoclassical Steel & Tin Sunburst Wall Mirror, Gilbert Poillerat
-
Description
An Iconic French Modern Neoclassical 1940s hand hammered steel and tin rectangular wall mirror in the form a sunburst in the style of Gilbert Poillerat. Poillerat was the most important iron worker in France during the 1940 period and he worked in close collaboration with other designers such as Andre Arbus. This mirror, in its rare rectangular form, represents the essence of the 40's with its rays of light reaching out searching for a better future. From a pure design perspective, its hand hammered work is bold and captivating and balanced with a dramatic steel patina.
