Large Carved and Gilt Mahogany Mirror by Harrison & Gil (later Christopher Guy)
-
Description
This Baroque style mirror was designed by Christopher Guy Harrison of Harrison & Gil. It was manufactured by the Dauphine Mirror Company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, circa 1990s. It was made in the period before Christopher Guy Harrison went on his own as the major furniture designer and producer, Christopher Guy.
The mirror has an antique gold gilt, hand-carved mahogany fleur-de-lis crest flanked by elaborate scrolling acanthus leaves. This carved section sits atop a concave mahogany frame around a protruding beveled glass mirror, which is enhanced by gilt molding. The quality of the hand carving and the overall workmanship are major features. The boldness of the design combined with the warmth of the mahogany and old gold make this mirror a strong statement for any room or style of décor, especially in a foyer, hall, or over a fireplace. It is a perfect focal point. -
