Description
This mirror is of very high quality with beautifully figured walnut and an
exceptional quality swans neck cresting, with foliate attachments centered by an
acanthus and c-scrolled carved cartouche of unusual depth. The sides with gilt
pendant foliage, the upper and lower sections with egg and dart border, the mirror
plate within a foliate carved and gilt slip.
It is unusual to find a William Kent design mirror of this style with a flat apron.
Condition: Gilding largely original, with some molding replaced. The beveled
rectangular mirror plate original, but re-silvered with some faults.
