Afra and Tobia Scarpa Africa Chairs with Cognac Leather Seating - 1970's
-
Description
Artona series 'Africa' chairs, Afra & Tobia Scarpa, Maxalto, Italy, 1975, set of four. The sculptural chairs show many beautiful details, such as the ebonized layers in the backrest, the elegant curve in the cognac leather seat, or the brass support in the back legs. The chairs are part of The Artona series for Maxalto, a specialist division of B&B Italia, set up in 1975 to concentrate exclusively on the production of high-end wooden furniture. It was a rebellion against the prevailing use of plastics in design during the preceding period. Entire set in amazing condition. In our opinion one of the most beautiful chairs ever designed. Also available per piece.
