AFRA & TOBIA SCARPA SET OF FOUR MODEL 121 DINNG CHAIRS FOR CASSINA

Sold Sold
  • Description
Iconic model "121" by Afra & Tobia Scarpa. Scarpa's typical double trestle structure with the characteristic rounded joint. The straightforward and minimal design is like a cubical volume; the supports, on the other hand, are slender, anatomically shaped surfaces. The base consists of four straight, flat legs, which provide and open look. The seating and back are beautifully shaped and slightly curved. These chairs are very well detailed and feature various original design elements such as the gap in the lower back and the extension of the back below the seat. The back has a cut in the lower part, required due to the presence of a reinforcement that reacts to torsion stress, which is strongest at this point. The black leather is in very good vintage condition.
    32”h at back 18.75”w cm 18.25”d Seat Height: 17.5”

Message from Seller:

Pavilion is the collective vision of Deborah Colman and Neil Kraus, both graduates of the master of fine arts program at the Art Institute of Chicago. From a longstanding interest in art and design, frequent buying trips to France and Italy have influenced the direction of the gallery to offer items that are not easily sourced in Chicago and United States. Postwar design has been the focus for 18 yrs and we also look forward to new design that crosses boundaries and dialogues as well to the past
