Amsterdamse School Side Chair - 1930's
-
Description
Amsterdam School side chair, made in the 1930s in the Netherlands. Dutch design piece that plays with proportions, lines and textures. The upholstered seat connects with the upholstered parts in the backrest, contrasting with the triangle which is made of a different material. The use of detailing like the cutouts and decorations in and on the wood, and the triangle shape in the backrest upholstery give this chair an interesting and moody appearance. It’s a chair with a very sculptural look, as every part is sculpted, organic and dynamic. A typical example of the Amsterdam School, a style characterised by the use of expressive forms, related to expressionism. An exceptional and one-of-a-kind side chair, in good original condition.
