Description
A two-seater sofa and three armchairs crafted from curved wicker and bamboo, this Italian-made living room set from the 1960s embodies timeless elegance and comfort.
Regardless of the weather outside, sitting in a wicker and rattan lounge set is always a soothing experience. These furnishings evoke the charm of a sunlit seaside day, perhaps spent in delightful, romantic company. While natural fiber furniture has appeared at various points throughout design history, its decorative potential was most fully realized between the Art Nouveau period and the 1960s. The material—highly malleable when heated and readily available from fast-growing cultivated or wild plants—allowed numerous manufacturers to create refined, stylish pieces.
This Italian set comprises a two-seater sofa and three armchairs with armrests. What captivates us most is the fluidity of the curved forms, where the material bends to reinterpret classic design elements with a contemporary sensibility. The backrests feature a motif reminiscent of a fan or a stylized seashell, reinforcing the collection’s seaside-inspired allure. Another striking detail is the seamless integration of the armrests and legs, which form a continuous, well-proportioned geometric shape.
Ideal for placement indoors by a large window or in a veranda, this set is in excellent condition and ready to enhance any interior.
