British Country Armchair
-
Description
British country armchair from ash wood. This Georgian Period chair’s design is unusual and is attributed to an anonymous craftsman operating in the Lancashire parish of Wigan during the late 18th century.
This chair features turned uprights, with domed and nipple finials, connected by wavy line slats and boldly turned stretchers and legs. The patina of its dark honey-brown color finish is excellent.
Chair’s low seat is ideal for fireside seating or may serve as a child’s chair. A cushion will raise its seat closer to modern proper sitting height. All original except for its later rush seat which is in good order. -
