Brazilian Modern Chairs in Metal and Fabric by Carlo Hauner, 1950s, Brazil
-
Description
Available today, these Mid-Century Modern chairs in Fabric and Metal designed by Carlo Hauner in the fifties are beautiful!!
The one of a kind set of six dining chairs was designed by Carlo Hauner for Moveis Artesanais, the designer’s first company (that he shared with Martin Eisler) and predecessor of the better known Forma. They have been reupholstered in light blue ultrasuede, in the same as it was originally done in the fifties. The sleek and delicate metal legs give the illusion that the chairs are floating. This design was a popular design back in the fifties. Attached vintage publications featuring the piece.
This set would look incredible in any modern, Mid-Century Modern, or contemporary environment.
Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and Martin Eisler (1913-1977) were the primary designers for the iconic Brazilian furniture company Forma. They are most known for well-shaped armchairs made in iron, but the production is far more complex, handcrafted, and extensive. The wood pieces produced by Forma Móveis e Objetos de Arte during 1950 & 1960s in Brazil are highly designed and well-executed.
Their narrative spans four countries (Italy, Austria, Brazil, and Argentina) and several decades and their exceptional works are already highly sought-after examples of the vibrant modern design movement in Latin America. -
