Pair of bronze and leather stools SUD by Christian Liaigre, 1994
-
Description
Elegant pair of SUD bronze and leather stools in very good condition with age and use.
The French designer Christian Liaigre gave birth to the “Sud” model in the early 90s, inspired by the work of Giacometti. The hammered bronze base, in its original state, blends with finesse with the beige leather seat, which has benefited from a meticulous restoration.
Christian Liaigre is a famous French interior designer (1943-2020) who studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris before working as a fashion photographer. It wasn’t until 1985 that he launched his own interior design agency, whose demanding approach emphasized artistic craftsmanship. He favoured the use of noble materials such as wood, bronze, leather and lacquer, while respecting the great tradition of French furniture. In the 1990s, Liaigre expanded its influence around the world by designing the Montalembert Hotel and the Mercer in Soho, New York. His legacy lives on as an example of French elegance and refinement. -
