Description
Dining chairs featuring expressive burl veneer and a bold combination of pink and burgundy lacquer. With four available, each piece showcases the playful yet sophisticated aesthetic synonymous with Ettore Sottsass (1917–2007), a visionary Italian architect and designer. Known for his groundbreaking contributions to furniture, jewelry, glass, lighting, and home objects, Sottsass embraced vibrant colors, bold forms, and decorative flair, making him an iconic figure in design history.
Sottsass founded the Memphis Group in Milan on December 11, 1980, inspired by Bob Dylan’s song "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again." The collective, active from 1981 to 1988, challenged conventional design norms with radical, playful, and unconventional creations. Their work drew from Art Deco, Pop Art’s vivid palette, and 1950s kitsch, often featuring colorful laminates and terrazzo in their pieces.
