Extraordinary pair of Swedish Art Deco armchairs, undoubtedly a custom commissioned crafted by an unidentified master cabinetmaker and designed by an architect, having wonderfully deep and comfortable seats in an orthogonal design articulated with a n exposed frame of figured birch in solid cuts of younger trees for just the right striation in the grain, which suggests a lustrous tortoiseshell effect, with wonderful carved scrolls on the arms and baroque-inspired legs , newly upholstered in a buff velvet; Sweden, 1920s-1930s
