French Art Deco Walnut & Upholstered Settee
-
Description
This refined and timeless walnut-framed settee was crafted in France, early 20th century, at the rise of Art Deco, bearing transitional features from earlier styles to suit a number of decorating tastes. It has a sleek profile, resembling a large tub chair, with a gently curving handrail that is carved in a foliate theme interspersed with little clusters of berries or grapes. Tight, linear upholstery is outlined by the carved walnut frame that is rich in tone and has deep curving trim, sloping down the curvaceous arms, transitioning to the dentil-carved apron below the bench cushion. The wood has aged well and now has a handsome patinated finish. This seating is very comfortable and sheltering, the sueded fabric is in poor condition. Four fluted, turned toupie feet support the whole. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition.
