French Charles X Walnut Swivel Desk Chair

Description
Charles X French walnut swivel or revolving desk chair, the seat mounted on a circular flatform, the curved back top rail decorated with a central carved urn flanked by carved stylized shells, the sloping arms with carving, reeded arm supports, the apron frame carved with scrolls, the saber legs carved with acanthus leaves, upholstered in a white cotton fabric and trim.
In 1785, the first recorded swivel chair was made of carved walnut and cane by the French cabinetmaker Henri Jacob, brother of Greoges Jacob. The seat was mounted on a circular platform and could turn around. -
