French Pair of 18th Century Louis XVI Bergere
-
Description
A pair of 18th century Louis XVI period bergere armchairs. The wood frames–painted light gray–are carved with stunning clarity & richness in foliate motifs from the top of the handrail through the arms. Upholstered in corduroy of burgundy hue and outlined by nailheads, the interior seat back is divided from the wings by a continuation of the wood frame, with matching manchette upholstered pads to rest one’s elbows. Thick seat cushions with a bit of down feather are luxuriously soft with a seat height of 20 ¼” to the crown. Flower carvings on the shaped back beautifully match those at the base, terminating in straight, fluted legs. Comfortable and wide, these chairs are perfect for any living space. Make sure to view the detailed images for a closer look.
