A glamorous Italian Art Deco mahogany stool designed by Italian architect, Giancarlo Palanti, circa 1930 with elegant high backrest; with simple and streamlined design and elegant curves which showcase the beauty of the wood. The high polished mahogany was highly indicative of the Art Deco period, when animal skins and polished or exotic woods were highly sought after.
Giancarlo Palanti, Milanese by birth, but Brazilian by adoption, was a fundamental figure for Milanese rationalist architecture between the First and Second World Wars. Following his move to Brazil in 1946, he became a reference in the field of design and mass production of modern furniture working with architect and designer, Lina Bo Bardi for Studio de Arte Palma.
