Description
This exquisite set of six dining chairs, designed by the iconic Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina in 1956 embodies the timeless elegance of mid-century modern design. his period was significant for Frattini, as he was establishing himself as a key figure in the Italian design movement, particularly in the realm of furniture designKnown as Model 105, these chairs feature a refined combination of clean lines and understated luxury.
Design
Frattini's design rationale for the Model 105 chair was rooted in his dedication to creating functional, well-crafted, and aesthetically pleasing furniture. His approach was influenced by the broader ethos of mid-century modern design, which emphasized simplicity, clean lines, and the honest use of materials. The Model 105 embodies the minimalist aesthetic that Frattini was known for. He stripped away any unnecessary ornamentation, allowing the form and function of the chair to speak for themselves. The simplicity of the design, combined with precise craftsmanship, gives the chair an enduring elegance. The dark rosewood frames offer a rich contrast to the textured olive-green upholstery, which brings a subtle touch of warmth and sophistication to any dining space. The simple yet thoughtful design, with gently angled legs and a comfortably cushioned seat, ensures these chairs are as comfortable as they are stylish.
Condition
The chairs are in very good condition with some minor wear and tear on the wooden structure. The fabric upholstery is completely renewed in a mixed olive-green fabric. -
