The “Biancamano” armchairs were designed in the 1950s by Gio Ponti and Lio Carminati to furnish the first class of the SS Conte Biancamano transatlantic ship. After their debut on the ship, the “Biancamano” armchairs became a symbol of an era and were highly appreciated even outside the nautical context. Today, the “Biancamano” model is still considered a classic of Italian design and continues to inspire reinterpretations in contemporary design.
