  • Description
This beautiful chair was designed and made by Italian designer Giuseppe Rivadossi in the 1970s. A master woodworker born in Monteclana di Nave where he still lives and works. His philosophy is to bring back humanism into living spaces that have been neglected by certain movements in architecture in the past. We think it's a noble goal. Rivadossi's style is very recognizable, and futuristic but always on a human scale. This design is also very ingenious and can be called an architectural tour de force. No screws, bolts, or other connections other than wood have been used. We can already see this directly at the front of this chair. Three types of wood joints have been used for the front legs alone. Namely, a mortise and tenon connection where the front and back legs are connected to each other. This is done in such a way that the wood just protrudes a millimeter or two through the wood so that the connection is also an aesthetic addition at the same time. In addition, we see that Rivadossi has applied a dowel connection with which the intermediate beams and the seat are additionally reinforced. The way in which the front legs fuse together by means of a tooth connection is truly fabulous. Both ends of the seat are placed at a slight angle, which makes the seating comfort even more phenomenal. A high backrest with a beautiful natural wood drawing is decorated on top with a cylindrical handle. It is also adjustable at different angles by the wooden adjustment pins below. At the rear of the chair, a tooth connection has again been used, but this time it protrudes from the seat to the rear end. In form language, this is the answer to the connections at the front of the seat. Rivadossi has succeeded in creating a dialogue through wood connections and a pleasant design. This item is in very good condition and only has some superficial scratches and stains. The chair is marked on the inside.
