Guido Faleschini for i4Mariani "Tucroma" Medium Brown Leather 3-Seat Sofa Italy
-
Description
A rare 3-seat sofa with arm with arms was created in the 1970s by Guido Faleschini for i4 Mariani, a subsidiary design firm for the esteemed manufacturer Pace Furniture Company. Our example features its original cognac colored quality leather upholstry, which are attached to graceful chromed steel tubular frame, reminiscent of the Bauhaus era, and reinvigorated in the late 60s and 70s. The comfy leather cushions are supported at the back and sides with newly repalced thick straps of stitched saddle-leather in a deeper, slighly contrasting color.
i4 Mariani was a specialty Italian design division of the Pace Collection and Guido Faleschini was the star designer who created famous designs such as the Tucroma line and a line of bedroom furniture for Hermès. Mariani still produces the Tucroma chair to the same specifications as the 1970s, but the sofa is notably missing from current production.
Condition is very good. Leather has a small imperceptible color touch-up to the right seat cushion. Chrome is mostly clean and bright, with some minor areas of oxidation. All plastic feet intact. Newly replaced stiched saddle support straps. -
