Rare Hans J. Wegner Settee For Johannes Hansen, Model JH 555, with slanted upholstered seat and back, on teak base, in original woven striped wool upholstery. Branded manufacturer's stamp with monogram on the underside, with original metal tag.
Wegner conceived of this settee in 1949 when he was preparing for the Annual Exhibition of the Cabinetmakers’ Guild in Denmark. He designed three chairs and this settee for the show. A molded plywood chair that was never produced, this settee, and the now world-famous Round Chair.
