Herman De Vries for Cushman Wide Paddle Lounge Chair
-
Description
Designed by Herman de Vries, and made in Vermont, USA, this lounge chair features excellent construction, vintage design appeal, and unmatched comfort and user experience. This chair is made of solid maple throughout, from the frame to the arms. Not an inch of veneer in sight on this chair. The cushiosn are help up in the back by more solid maple, and metal springs and canvas on the bottom. The cushions are very deep and very plush, and the upholstery is in great shape with no rips, tears, or discernible fading. This chair was designed in the 1940s, just as the sun set on classical design. 80 years ago, this chair broke the mold of what fine furniture would become. Today, this chair and others like it represent the beginnings of American Mid-Century design. In terms of quality and design it stands with the best, such as Edward Wormley and George Nelson. This chair is extremely comfortable, with plenty of give in the cushions, and a ton of space on the arms. The experience of using this chair makes you want to never get back up.
In good vintage and original condition. No warping in the wood, with minor signs of previous use. Structurally excellent. Signed with a metal label on underside. -
