Ib Kofod-Larsen black Seal Lounge Chair, Sweden 1950s
-
Description
This iconic lounge chair is a true modern classic and together with the Elizabeth chair and the Trol sideboard it belongs to the best works designed by Kofod-Larsen.
The clear lined frame of this chair contrasts beautifully with the angled seating and gives the work an open and very photographical appearance. Due to the well chosen proportions and high quality of the design the Seal chair is very comfortable to sit in, also for longer reading or ipad sessions.
In 1956, the Danish furniture architect Ib Kofod-Larsen received an assignment from the Swedish furniture maker OPE Möbler (Olof Persons Fåtöljindustri) to design a series of “Danish” furniture in order to breathe life into the dying Swedish furniture industry. One of the most prominent pieces of this assignment was the Seal. -
