The iconic 'Elizabeth' chair was designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen in 1956 and was presented at the Copenhagen Cabinet-makers’ Guild Exhibition the same year. Originally known under model 'U-56', the chair received the name ‘Elizabeth’ after Queen Elizabeth II acquired an example during a state visit to Denmark in 1958. This particular chair was executed by the master carpenters Christensen & Larsen in Denmark in the late 1950s. The chair is stamped with the carpenter's stamp on the interior of the frame. The exquisitely crafted, sculptural carved frame of the chair is in solid teak wood. The chair is upholstered in a high quality, checkered wool fabric in different green tones. A striking and visually appealing armchair from all angles, making it a perfect chair for a freestanding placement in a room.
The chair is in very good condition. The teak wood has been carefully restored, preserving the original patina. The fabric is in overall good vintage condition with minor wear.
