Italian, 20th Century
Settee: Height 164cm, width 261cm, depth 84cm

This fine suite of furniture is an extravagant example of the Italian Baroque style. The three pieces in the suite—one sofa and two armchairs—feature carved giltwood frames and cushions upholstered with red velvet. The three-seat sofa features an exceptional back rail complete with a host of pierced and carved giltwood detailing, including scrolling foliage and a peacock-like central crest. The legs and seat rail are similarly formed, and the sofa features three upholstered cushions and a shaped upholstered backrest. The two armchairs are similarly styled, each with pierced giltwood detailing and red velvet cushions. - More Information
