Description
Fantastic pair of early 20th century Art Nouveau armchairs designed by famous Austrian architect Gustav Siegel for the world renowed bentwood company Jacob & Josef Kohn in Vienna/ Austria. Elaborately crafted out of fine bentwood and showing the original patinated surface slightly polished with shellac by hand, this design was shown to the public for the very first time at the world exhibition in Paris back in 1900 - where it was also awarded. These great shaped armchairs still show the original fabric upholstery which is in breathtaking condition - an absolute rarity! Enchanting brass fittings on the legs end finalize the outstanding appearance. This pair of Art Nouveau armchairs is definitely a rare one because of its original upholstery and the outstanding original condition. These early 20th century bentwood chairs provide a timeless charm even though the design was created over 120 years ago. This again proofs that Mr. Gustav Siegel was a true passioned master within his profession with incredible creativity and this special feeling for design
