About the designer:
Kay Otto Fisker was a Danish architect and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. Fisker was a Danish exponent of the international functionalism movement. While Kay Fisker is most remembered for his architectural achievements, throughout his career he created many popular furniture designs. The producer of this chair, Robert Wengler, was a German craftsman. In the early 20th century he discovered rattan as constructing material, which was still exotic and new at that time. Mastering this new material he became the pioneer and most skillful wicker maker in Denmark influencing many iconic danish designers, such as Arne Jacobsen, Viggo Boesen and Kay Bojesen. -
