Brno Flat-Bar Chairs in Ivory Leather by Mies van der Rohe for Knoll, Set of 4
-
Description
It is often said that modern design is timeless, this is unequivocally true with the Brno Chair, possibly one of the most iconic pieces of design in existence. Its designer, the great Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, could very well be known as one of the founding fathers of the Mid-Century Modern design movement. His work is deeply rooted in the Bauhaus from which this chair came to be. Only Mies van der Rohe, with his sage-like mastery of minimalism, could have consistently produced work still relevant nearly 100 years later.
This set of four Brno Flat-Bar Chairs retain their original leather upholstery in the color Ivory. They also feature upholstered arm pads which is a feature only available by special order. As these are contemporary iteration Brno Chairs, their frames are crafted from steel which are chrome plated and finished with a mirror polish. Each chair is incised under their right arms with KnollStudio accompanied by Mies van der Rohe’s signature. Overall this set of four is in spectacular condition showing only minor wear consistent with age and history. They are a great example of Mies van der Rohe’s timeless design.
We are selling these four chairs as a set, however we have an optional matching pedestal table available should it be of interest. With a chrome drum base, a solid oak perimeter, and an inlayed matching leather top; the table is the perfect match. Please contact us for more information. -

Stories exist in many forms, we see them in objects. The aesthetic of those before us is passed down through their surviving creations. These are the objects we search for; to preserve, refine, & continue the story. Object Refinery combines design obsession, fine craftsmanship, and a love for history in our worldwide search for objects. Based in Connecticut, USA; we partner with a network of local artisans to restore and refine our findings before passing them on to the next collector.
